I am a Lands
End based artist and textile designer specialising in hand-dyed and printed
textiles, prints & hand-made cards, trading under the name Solstice
Moon. My home studio is a 200+ year old barn, but it is nevertheless
well equipped to cope with the small runs of specialised screen-printed
scarves that are the main part of my business.
The inspirations for my devoré scarves are developed from a range
of sources, including the landscape, Celtic design & other ancient
indigenous art forms. My scarves are all cut from rolls of pure white
silk/viscose velvet and printed, processed, dyed and hand finished in
the studio. Each scarf is dyed individually by either dip-dyeing or by
using fibre reactive dyes to create two contrasting colours, known as
double-dyeing. I use a variety of mixed media techniques for my prints
& hand-made cards, including unusual papers, photographic, lino-cut
& mono printed images, textile off-cuts, pressed leaves and flowers,
printed motifs, mouldings and 'found' items. Where possible re-cycled
card blanks are used for my cards, and I will personalise cards to order.
Visits can be made to my studio by appointment any time of the year or
check out the website for events I may be participating in. You can also
e-mail me direct for current e-catalogues or details of shops/galleries
that stock my products.
